Munich 1918 - 1922 / München 1918 - 1922

The following summer I looked forward to my vacation at the Priest's home. The previous year I had a very good time. When school was over and my mother had prepared what I was to take along, I started for my solo trip.  My mother brought me to the big Munich railway station. The train already waited. I felt confident and courageously started on this first trip alone. I was told that I was to change trains in Wolnzach, where I had to wait two hours for the connecting train. I remember that I sat alone in Wolnzach on a bench at the deserted station, my eyes fixed on the clock for the entire two hours. I did not dare to get up or move my eyes from the clock. The connecting train's arrival time had been drummed into my head time and again by my worried mother. Finally, the train came and brought me to my destination, where Anna was waiting to bring me home.  Fortunately, I was to stay for only a short time. I was alone.
